PDF Schedule/Download schedule

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine's 2013 schedule will feature teams from the Big 12 and Big Ten Conferences, and renews weekend series against two opponents following a five-year hiatus. Opening the season with 12 of 13 games at Anteater Ballpark, nineteen of UCI's 28 non-conference games will be played at home this season. The Anteaters have posted at least 20 home victories five of the last seven seasons, including 23 wins in 2009 and 2011 at Cicerone Field for a team-high since re-instating the program in 2002.

In the opening weekend, UCI kicks off a strong schedule against 2012 NCAA regional champion, Baylor, Feb. 15-17. The team then continues the home-stand against California, marking the first time the two teams will face each other since 2007.

Following a single game at Loyola Marymount (Feb. 26), the Anteaters return to Anteater Ballpark to tackle Portland, also for the first time since 2007. Cal State Bakersfield travels to UCI (Mar. 5) in the first game of a home-and-home series before UCI travels for its first three-game road series at BYU, Mar. 7-9.

The schedule swings back home as the Anteaters entertain San Diego State in a mid-week game, Mar. 12, before Nebraska makes its first-ever trip to Anteater Ballpark, Mar. 15-17. The two teams met twice, both times on neutral territory, with UCI last facing the Cornhuskers in 2008. The meeting also marks the return of pitching coach, Ted Silva, who handled the Anteater arms from 2008-10.

Following the Big 10 match-up, UCI jumps on the road for five straight to take on Cal State Bakersfield (Mar. 26) prior to opening conference action at UC Riverside (Mar. 28-30).

USC dots the schedule annually and UCI makes the first trip up to Dedeaux Field, Apr. 2. Hawai'i, the Big West's newest member, travels to Anteater Ballpark for the first time since 2008 (Apr. 5-7) in continuing Big West action.

The Anteaters face San Diego, Apr. 9, on the road before UCI hosts Cal State Northridge, Apr. 12-14 as part of a four-game home stand that is capped by a visit from UCLA, Apr. 16.

The schedule continues on the road at Pacific, Apr. 19-21, and San Diego State, Apr. 23. UCI then hosts UC Davis, Apr. 26-28, before travelling up the 405 freeway for its second meeting against the Bruins on Apr. 30.

The month of May opens with a trip to UC Santa Barbara (May 3-5). The Anteaters then unpack their bags for five straight at home, featuring USC (May 7), Cal Poly (May 10-12) and San Diego (May 15).

UCI's final conference road series pits the Anteaters against Cal State Fullerton (May 17-19) and the season ends with a Black and Blue Rivalry series against Long Beach State at Anteater Ballpark, May 23-25.

The Anteaters return 18 letterwinners in 2013 and are led by pitchers, Andrew Thurman, Matt Whitehouse, Evan Brock and Kyle Hooper. Leading the position players are catcher, Ronnie Shaeffer, and outfielder, Jeff Stephens. Also highlighting the UCI squad is Taylor Sparks, who was named a top prospect out of the West Coast League by Baseball America after helping the Wenatchee AppleSox to a fifth league championship.
