IRVINE, Calif. --- Sixth-ranked UC Irvine (7-0) takes on another busy weekend, competing in the NorCal Tournament at Stanford Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 15-16).
THIS WEEKEND
● Coach Marc Hunt's 'Eaters open against No. 11 UC San Diego Saturday at 12:15 p.m. at Belardi Pool. UCI will then face third-ranked California or No. 16 Air Force later that day with Sunday's matchups based on Saturday's results.
QUICK HITS
● The 'Eaters went 5-0 over three days last weekend. UCI defeated UC Davis, 14-12, last Friday night before recording victories at the Inland Empire Classic in La Verne over Occidental (18-3), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (15-4), La Verne (21-5) and Pomona-Pitzer (19-10).
● Junior Bojan Hrlec scored 18 goals in the five wins, including six in Sunday's victory over Pomona-Pitzer, and he has 22 on the season.
● Junior Mitch Wise scored 14 goals last weekend, including his third consecutive five-goal outburst in the win over UC Davis. He leads UCI with 24 goals this season and has 124 in his career.
● Senior Nick Pfeil totaled nine goals in the five wins last weekend, including a hat trick versus Pomona-Pitzer. He has 14 goals this season.
● Sophomore Jacob Mourer tallied eight goals last weekend, including three in the win over UC Davis, and he has 13 for the season.
● Sophomore Alan Robertson notched a hat trick versus Occidental and he has 11 goals for the year.
● Redshirt freshman Chris Swieca scored two goals each in the victories over Occidental and La Verne, and has nine on the season.
● Senior Winston Newland recorded a hat trick against Occidental and he has scored eight goals this season.
● Junior goalie Alex Kazmier had 26 saves last weekend and has 42 for the season.
● Redshirt sophomore goalie Dylan Peterson recorded a total of 16 saves on the weekend to lift his season total to 26.
LOOKING AHEAD
● UCI travels to Santa Barbara for the SoCal Tournament Sept. 29-30.
