London -- The U.S. Olympic Men's Volleyball Team upset top-ranked Brazil, 3-1 (23-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-17) Thursday evening in a battle of undefeated teams during an Olympic Games Pool B match at Earls Court in London.
Team USA, ranked fifth in the world and the defending Olympic Games champion, improved to 3-0 with nine points and is the only undefeated team left in Pool B. The Americans continue Pool B action on Saturday against Russia at 8:45 a.m. PT. The U.S. concludes the preliminary round on Aug. 6 versus Tunisia at noon PT. Brazil falls to 2-1 with six points in Pool B.
Team USA, with three Olympic Games titles to its credit, has now won 11 straight matches in Olympic Games competition, including the 2008 Olympic Games gold-medal match against Brazil.
UCI All-American David Smith saw action in the first two sets.
