Anteater Duo Sits In 10th At Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship

Powell, Ohio -- UC Irvine women's golfers Michelle Park and Ronnie Valerio are tied for 10th place after the first round of the 3rd Annual Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship at Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, OH.
The Anteater duo totaled a four-over par 76 and are four shots out of second place and seven behind Ashley Armstrong and Kristina Nhim of Notre Dame, who shot a three under par 69 Tuesday to lead the field. Park will be a senior in the fall and Valerio will a junior.
The format of the Championship is Day 1 (July 31): Alternate Shot; Day 2 (Aug. 1): Best Ball; and Day 3 (Aug. 2): Aggregate Score of the two players. Teams are comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf including Division I, II and III programs.
Fifty-four teams return to action on Wednesday morning for the second day of the Championship with tee times set to begin at 8:00 a.m. playing in a best ball format.
