LONDON, England --- UCI head coach and U.S. women's national team assistant coach Dan Klatt helped guide the U.S. women's water polo team to a win in its Olympic opener Monday defeating Hungary, 14-13, at the Water Polo Arena in London for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The Americans jockeyed with the Hungarians throughout the match before pulling out the one-goal victory at the end. Maggie Steffens led the squad with an astonishing seven goals to tie an Olympic record. Courtney Stevenson also added four goals as Team USA took its first step towards gold in the women's water polo competition.
The Americans next take on Spain Wednesday, Aug. 1st at 10:20 a.m. Coach Klatt and the team can be seen live online at nbcolympics.com while the television broadcast will be tape delayed on NBC, at 12:15 p.m., and NBC Sports Network, at 4:00 p.m.
