Friday Heat Sheets

AUSTIN, Tex. --- UC Irvine senior Charles Jock won his first-round heat in the 800 meters at the NCAA West Preliminary Round Thursday at Austin, Tex.

Jock had a time of 1:49.73 at Mike A. Myers Stadium to advance to the quarterfinals Friday at 5:00 p.m. PT.  The top 12 following the quarters will move on to the NCAA Championships June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Anteater senior Jacob Yowell also advanced to the quarterfinals in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 51.57 to place third in his first-round heat.  The quarters are at 5:30 p.m. PT Friday with the top 12 earning spots in the NCAA Championships at Des Moines.

Yowell had the eighth-fastest time of the 48 competitors Thursday.
