IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine hosts the 32nd annual Anteater Men's Golf Invitational Monday and Tuesday (April 23-24) at Shady Canyon Golf Club in Irvine. The par-71 course covers 7,026 yards.
Joining UCI in the field are Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, San Jose State, St. John's, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara.
Thirty-six holes will be played Monday with the final 18 on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on www.golfstat.com.
Play begins at 7:30 a.m. each day off the first and 10th tees. The 'Eaters begin on the first hole at 8:20 a.m. Monday.
Coach Paul Smolinski's UCI lineup features sophomore Allan Jun, redshirt freshman Pete Fernandez, junior Michael Yang, redshirt sophomore Ryan Knapp and junior Mickey Chan. Playing individually will be sophomore Zack Duan and freshmen Bhuvan Potluri and Jae Kang.
Jun leads the 'Eaters this season with a 73.30 average, two top-10 finishes and two other top-20 showings. Fernandez has a 73.97 average and also has two top-10s and a pair of top-20s.
This is the first year that Shady Canyon Golf Club is hosting the Anteater Invitational. UCI has won the invitational title three times in the past five years, the last coming in 2010.
UCI competes in the Big West Conference Championship Apr. 29-May 1 on the Mountain Course at the La Quinta Resort.
