POMONA, Calif. --- UC Irvine was victorious in its first match of the Claremont Covergence Tournament in Pomona, Calif. with a 15-4 win over Pomona-Pitzer (6-8).
Jessy Cardey (Riverside / Poly HS) started off the match with a goal to continue her consecutive games scoring streak. The Sagehens actually muscled back and took a 2-1 lead before Amy Riddering (Sacramento / El Camino Fundamental HS) powered the 'Eaters back into the lead.
Riddering would finish with four goals on the afternoon. Hannah Croghan (Yorba Linda / Rosary HS) had a hat trick of her own. Michaela Pierandozzi (Whittier / La Serna HS) and Kelsey Klatt (Fresno / Sunnyside HS) each had a pair as UCI used a pair of five-goal periods to take the win.
The Anteaters (13-5) will take on the University of Redlands at 6:00 p.m. in the second leg of their Friday doubleheader as part of the the Claremont Convergence Tournament.
