IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine senior Jacob Yowell has been named the Big West Conference Track Athlete of the Week following his season-opening performance last Saturday.

Yowell (Torrance/El Camino College) was a double winner in the All-UC Meet at Anteater Stadium to open UCI's outdoor season.

He won the 200 meters in a meet-record time of 21.54 and set another meet record with a winning time of 14.16 in the 110-meter hurdles which improves his No. 5 mark in the Anteater record book.

UCI competes at the Ben Brown Invitational Saturday at Cal State Fullerton.
