EUGENE, Ore. --- The Anteaters took a couple of points from the Huskies, but were unsuccessful falling 5-2 on the campus of the University of Oregon.

The doubles pairs went 0-for-3 giving Washington the early 1-0 lead.

The Huskies (8-2) got the four points needed early coming from the 2, 3, 5, and 6 slots to take a 5-0 lead. The UC Irvine (1-7, 0-1) singles came away with some big-time wins, however, as seniors Jon Kazarian (Rancho Palos Verdes / Peninsula HS) and Fabian Matthews (Newport Beach / Corona del Mar HS) each earned three-set wins. Matthews' was especially impressive as his 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 marathon over the No. 15-ranked player in the country in Kyle McMorrow.

UCI is back on the court tomorrow again at the University of Oregon to play the host school this time, the Ducks, starting at 11:00 a.m.
