Rex Nelson Leads UC Irvine at NCAA West Regional

 

Final Men's Results

SEATTLE, Wash. --- Senior Rex Nelson was the top finisher for UC Irvine at the NCAA West Regional in Seattle Friday.

Nelson covered 10,000 meters at Jefferson Park Golf Course with a time of 30:40 to finish 58th in the 185-runner field.  Arizona's Lawi Lalang was the race winner in 29:02.

UCI's Alex Tebbe was 70th in 30:56, Sam Hyams placed 91st in 31:17 and Steven Melena was 117th (31:53).

Rounding out the 'Eaters' lineup were Andrew Snyder in 132nd place (32:18), Nick Osborne 147th (32:38) and Tommy Newton-Neal 174th (33:40).

UCI finished 17th with 465 points as Stanford (45), and Portland (107) claimed the top two spots and automatic berths to the NCAA Championship in Louisville, Ky., Nov. 17.
