LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- UC Irvine fell in its season finale Sunday, 16-8, to No. 2 UCLA in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game at Spieker Aquatics Center.
The Bruins (25-3, 7-1 MPSF) took a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and built a 9-0 lead early in the second period before UCI's Jacob Mourer scored back-to-back goals and Mitch Wise another to close the gap to 9-3 at the half.
Senior Winston Newland scored a pair of second-half goals for the 'Eaters (14-12, 0-8) on a power play and penalty shot.
Newland, Mourer and Wise each notched a pair of goals while Nick Pfeil and Pablo Carballo also scored goals for UCI.
Danny McLintick led the Bruins with three goals as 12 different UCLA players scored in the game.
