UC Irvine Competes in Big West Championship at Riverside Saturday

QUICK STRIDES
● UC Irvine competes in the 2012 Big West Conference Championship at the UC Riverside Agricultural/Operations Course. The women's 6,000-meter race begins at 8:45 a.m.
● General admission tickets are $5, while Big West students get in for $2.
● Parking at the meet is in Lot 30 located in the Northwest corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Canyon Crest Drive. Shuttles will be available to transport spectators from the parking lot to the course and back to the parking lot. A $5 fee is payable to the attendant on site. If no attendant is present, please use the dispenser located in the lot.
● To reach the Ag/Ops Course from the 215/60 freeway, exit Martin Luther King and go West. Turn left at the Canyon Crest traffic light and travel approximately 300 meters to the course entrance. For parking in Lot 30, continue straight on Martin Luther King.
● UCI finished sixth in last year's league championship meet at Riverside.
● Head coach Vince O'Boyle, in his 31st season at UCI, has led the Anteaters to 12 Big West titles (1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1995, 1999 and 2005). He was named Big West Coach of the Year each of those seasons. Thirteen of his women's runners have been Big West individual champions.

LIVE VIDEO STREAM SATURDAY
● For the first time, the Big West Conference will provide free, live streaming video from the Championships. From the beginning of the races through the finish lines and on to the awards platform, the live stream will provide new access to the championships for fans.
● The broadcast will be available on the Big West Cross Country Championships page at http://bit.ly/bwtxc beginning at 8:15 am on Saturday and will follow the race leaders through the course.
● Produced utilizing technology from StreamCell and UStream, the broadcast will also be available on mobile devices and via the UStream iOS or Android apps on the Big West Conference UStream channel.
LAST WEEK
● Camille Maron was named Big West Athlete of the Week after finishing 13th of 126 runners at the Titan Invitational to help UCI to a third-place finish in the field of 11 teams.
ON THE HORIZON
● UCI competes in the NCAA West Regional Nov. 9 at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle, Wash.
