STANFORD, Calif. --- A close game after one quarter was broken open by fourth-ranked Stanford as the host Cardinal defeated UC Irvine, 15-4, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game Saturday.
Stanford led 2-1 following the first period before capitalizing on eight goals by Bret Bonanni over the next three quarters to improve to 11-4 overall and 3-2 in the MPSF.
Pablo Carballo, Bojan Hrlec, Nick Pfeil and Mitch Wise scored the UCI goals as the eighth-ranked 'Eaters fell to 14-7 overall and 0-4 in league play.
UCI hosts California Thursday and Pacific Friday in 7:00 p.m. MPSF games at the Anteater Aquatics Complex. Friday night's game is the season's home finale.
