Irvine, Calif. - Junior guard Anete Klintsone guided UC Irvine to a pair of Big West victories last week, earning her Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades.

Klintsone opened the week with a career-high 21 point performance in the 77-75 overtime victory against Pacific. She went 9-for-15 from the field for the game, scoring 15 of her points in the second half, going 6-for-8 from the field, including 2-for-3 from three-point range. She also added five rebounds and four assists.

Two days later in UC Irvine's 60-54 win over UC Davis, Klintsone posted a career-best eight rebounds to go along with 16 points. She also picked up three assists and two steals. The Anteater win was the first time UC Irvine defeated UC Davis since Jan. 4, 2006 and was just their second overall win versus the Aggies (19-2).

For the week, Klintsone averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per contest, while shooting .536 from the field.

This is UC Irvine's first honor of the 2011-12 season.
