Eighth-Ranked UC Irvine Powers Past California Baptist, 16-2

IRVINE, Calif. --- A trio of UC Irvine players scored three goals each to lead the eighth-ranked 'Eaters past California Baptist, 16-2, in a non-conference game at Anteater Pool Thursday night.

Senior Max Parrague scored a career-high three goals, and senior Trent Baxter and redshirt sophomore Mitch Wise also recorded hat tricks for UCI, which improved to 3-0 on the season.

Junior Brian Pickford added a pair of goals for the 'Eaters, who jumped out to a 10-0 lead early in the third quarter.

Redshirt freshman Michael Bailey started in goal for UCI and recorded eight saves, four each in the opening two quarters.  Redshirt junior Jimmy Friedrich, a transfer from USC, played the second half and had 10 saves, including six in the final period.

Brent Troutman scored a goal in the third quarter and Matt Puig in the fourth for the 18th-ranked Lancers, who sustained their first loss of the season in falling to 3-1.  Austen Ramer had six saves in the first three quarters and Dylan Vrooman made two stops in the fourth for California Baptist.

UCI hosts a pair of non-conference games Saturday at Anteater Pool, facing UC Santa Barbara at noon and Chapman at 4:00 p.m.
