Cami Privett Two-Times Toreros

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine came roaring back from a halftime deficit to score three times in five minutes to end its non-conference schedule with a 3-2 win over the USD Toreros in Torero Stadium late Sunday night.

The Anteaters (7-2-1) fell behind in the first half as USD (5-6-0) shot eight times putting three on net. The Toreros managed to get a goal on one as Sierra Ferreira put a one-timer into the far side of the post in from Stephanie Ochs in the 38th minute.

UCI had just three shots in the first half, however, all three were on net as USD keeper, Courtney Parsons, saved all three.

Jennifer Randazzo (San Jose / Presentation HS) had a pair of saves, but still trailed, 1-0, entering the second half.

UCI took charge in the second half. Natalia Ledezma (La Mirada / UCLA) and Dana Sanderlin (Upland / Upland HS) tied it up in the 60th minute. Ledezma's team-leading sixth goal of the year came off a sharp cross from Sanderlin, as she earned her third assist of the season.

The 'Eaters would capitalize on the momentum, and nobody had a bigger hand in it than freshman Cami Privett (Bakersfield / Frontier HS).

Privett launched a 25-yard strike in to give UCI the 2-1 lead in the 63rd minute. Privett wasn't done, however, as she got a little help from CoCo Goodson (Ramona / University of Texas) as her lead pass was one-timed in just two minutes after the go-ahead strike to give the freshman two goals in the matter of two minutes.

The quarter continued as a back-and-forth affair. USD would stay in it with a perfect shot from Mariah Hobbs from 15 yards out to tighten the gap to 3-2 in the 72nd minute.

Both clubs played to the final whistle, but UCI would hold on to complete the weekend with a pair of wins over West Coast Conference (WCC) powers.

Privett, who had three points in her career previous to this match, had four points on the night including her first career game-winning goal.

Randazzo finished with three saves for her seventh victory.

Goodson recorded the game-winning assist, her second assist in 2011 after having zero all of last season. She now has a point in three straight contests with five of her six points on the season in those matches.

The 'Eaters have done a great job at shot efficiency, with 14 goals in 151 shot attempts, and kept up that clip with three on just eight shots against USD.

UCI finishes non-conference play at 7-2-1 including a 2-1-1 record against ranked opponents.

Big West conference play is up next, and the Anteaters begin with a tough road stretch while they aim to build on an 8-0-0 league season in 2010. They play at 3 p.m. at title-contender UC Davis on Fri. Sept. 30. UCI will finish the weekend in Stockton against the Pacific Tigers, Sun. Oct. 2 for a noon start.
