Final Men's Results
STANFORD, Calif. --- Sophomore Steven Melena led the UC Irvine men's cross country team at the 38th annual Stanford University Invitational Saturday.
Melena finished 42nd of 242 runners with a time of 24:52 over 8,000 meters at the Stanford Golf Course.
Stanford's Chris Derrick won the race in a time of 23:15.
UCI junior Nick Osborne was 65th in 25:19, freshman Matt Neev placed 82nd in 25:31 and senior Brennen Halliday finished 94th in 25:45.
Junior Rex Nelson was 96th (25:49), junior Andrew Snyder 98th (25:51), senior Ryan McMonigle 103rd (25:57) and sophomore Tommy Newton-Neal 176th (26:50).
UCI finished 11th of 28 teams with 317 points. The host Cardinal placed first with 27 points, UCLA was second with 52 and UC Santa Barbara third with 130.
The 'Eaters compete in the Bill Dellinger Invitational at Springfield, Ore., next Saturday.
