IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine redshirt sophomore driver Mitch Wise (Beaverton, Ore./Southridge HS) has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation KAP7 Player of the Week.
Wise scored a total of 15 goals in the 'Eaters' five wins last week and has notched multiple goals in each game this season as UCI is off to a 7-0 start.
He scored a pair of power-play goals in the third quarter to help overcome a 7-6 deficit in a 13-8 win over sixth-ranked UC Santa Barbara.
Wise had three goals in last Thursday's win over California Baptist, added two in a Saturday victory over Chapman, and scored four times each in Sunday wins over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Vanguard at the Inland Empire Classic.
He leads eighth-ranked UCI with 25 goals this season and ranks fourth in the MPSF with an average of 3.57 goals per game.
Coach Marc Hunt's squad opens play in the NorCal Tournament at Stockton facing Long Beach State Saturday at 9:20 a.m. at Chris Kjeldsen Pool on the campus of the University of the Pacific.
