BAXTER NAMED ESPN ZONE ANAHEIM ANTEATER OF THE WEEK
Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine men's water polo player Trent Baxter has been named this week's ESPN Zone Anaheim Anteater of the Week.
The senior driver from Fresno was a key player in two of UC Irvine's wins this past weekend at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament. Baxter scored the game-winning goal 32 seconds into overtime against Pacific on Sunday to lift the No. 7 seeded Anteaters to a 10-9 win. He finished the game with a game-high four goals to help the Anteaters to a fifth place finish. On Saturday against Pepperdine, Baxter was the only player for UCI to score multiple goals, netting two in the game to contribute to the Eaters' 5-4 win. He finished with seven goals in Irvine's three tournament games.
Baxter was ranked seventh in the MPSF for goals scored this season with 55 earning him All-MPSF Honorable Mention Team. He has played in 29 games and averages 1.90 goals per game.
The Anteaters finished the season 17-12 overall and are currently ranked seventh in the national rankings. UCI has finished in the conferences top five in four of the last five years.
