UC Irvine alums Sean Shahi and Mike Lavery have earned spots in the final stage of PGA Qualifying School.
The two join John Chin, a 2010 All-American at UCI, in reaching the final stage that will be played Nov. 30-Dec. 5 at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif., on the Nicklaus Tournament and Stadium courses. Chin qualified on Friday.
Shahi shot an even-par 71 in the final round of the second stage Saturday at Plantation Preserve Golf Course in Plantation, Fla. He had a four-round total of 9-under 275 to tie for eighth place.
Shahi earned All-Big West Conference honors each of his three years with the 'Eaters (2007-09). He was runner-up to Chin in the 2008 Big West Championship.
Lavery shot even-par 71 in his last round of the second stage Saturday at Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Fla., to place 13th with a 72-hole score of even-par 284.
Lavery, who played at UCI from 1999-2003, won the 2003 Big West individual title and was a three-time All-Big West honoree.
