LA VERNE, Calif. --- Seventh-ranked UC Irvine shut out Whittier College, 9-0, in the second half en route to a 21-4 victory in the Convergence Tournament at Las Flores Park in La Verne Saturday morning.

Alan Robertson, Mitch Wise and Trent Baxter scored three goals each for the 'Eaters, who improved to 11-6 on the season.

Max Parrague, Derrik Jarvis, Jacob Mourer and Kyle Adama added two goals apiece for UCI, which led 12-4 at halftime.  Eleven different 'Eaters scored in the win.

Jimmy Friedrich played the first half and had five saves in goal while Alex Kazmier had four stops in the last two quarters.

Erick Gonzalez led the Poets with two goals.

UCI faces Occidental College at 3:40 p.m. in the tournament.
