'Eaters Overpower Tigers, 19-1, for Marc Hunt's 100th Career Win

 

LA VERNE, Calif. --- UC Irvine head coach Marc Hunt earned his 100th career victory in the 'Eaters' 19-1 win over Occidental College at the Convergence Tournament in La Verne Saturday afternoon.

Hunt, an All-American player at UCI in 1992 and 1993, reached the milestone win in his seventh season after replacing legendary coach Ted Newland in 2005.

Mitch Wise tied his career high with six goals as seventh-ranked UCI improved to 12-6 overall.  Max Parrague and Trent Baxter added three goals each.

Jacob Mourer and Blake Terry scored two goals apiece for the 'Eaters, who outscored the Tigers, 10-0 in the second half.

Michael Bailey started in goal for UCI and had five saves in the first half while Alex Kazmier recorded four stops in the second half.

Tai McDermott scored the lone goal for Occidental.

The 'Eaters host No. 3 UCLA Sunday at noon in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game at Anteater Pool.
