Dayton, Nev. – Freshman Sarah Baek finished third in her first collegiate tournament to help the UC Irvine women's golf team to a second place finish at the Wolf Pack Classic at the Dayton Valley Golf Club Tuesday.
The Anteaters shot a 304 on the final 18 holes and ended the tournament in second place with a score of 602, four strokes behind champion San Francisco (598), who shot a 297 Tuesday, the lowest round of the tournament. Nevada and Wyoming tied for third at 604, while Stetson (609) finished fifth. Rounding out the field were Sacramento State (618), Bowling Green State (625), Montana (626), Old Dominion (630) and Utah Valley (636).
After shooting a 69 on the first round, Baek had a 76 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for third with a score of 145. UCI posted two more Top 10 finishes with senior Lalita Patipaksiri placing in a tie for seventh with a score of 151 (78-73) and freshman Michelle Yang tied for 10th after carding a 152 (73-79). Sophomore Ronnie Valerio was tied for 17th with a total of 154 (78-76), while sophomore Taryn Yee was 38th at 159 (78-76).
UCI will travel to the Price's "Give Em Five" Intercollegaite October 10-12 at the New Mexico State Golf Course.
