Final Results
RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- UC Irvine finished fifth in the Big West Conference Championship at the UC Riverside Agricultural Operations Course Saturday.
UCI totaled 128 points as Cal Poly won the team title with 36. UC Santa Barbara was second at 68, Long Beach State third with 69 and UC Riverside fourth with 101.
Chad Hall of the host Highlanders was the individual champion with a time of 23:41.9 over 8,000 meters.
Senior Brett Matejka led UCI with a 22nd-place finish of 24:42.3, Steven Melena was 24th (24:47.2), Rex Nelson 27th (24:49.4) and Matt Neev 29th (24:50.8).
Nick Osborne placed 37th in 25:12.3, Brennen Halliday was 41st (25:20.4), Andrew Snyder 42nd (25:22.0), Ryan McMonigle 45th (25:34.4) and Tommy Newton-Neal 55th (26:07.6).
The 'Eaters compete in the NCAA West Regional at the Stanford Golf Course Nov. 12.
