2011 Big West Cross Country Championship Information
IRVINE, Calif. --- The UC Irvine women's cross country team competes in the 2011 Big West Conference Championship Saturday at UC Riverside.
The 6,000-meter race is scheduled to begin at 9:35 a.m. at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course.
Thirtieth-year UCI head coach Vince O'Boyle has entered the following lineup:
Chloe Fata (Jr., South Pasadena / South Pasadena HS)
Shelley Foerster (Jr., Garden Grove / Pacifica HS)
Mary Follo (So., North Tustin / Foothill HS)
Kaycee Holcomb (Fr., Oak Park / Oak Park HS)
Maggie McDuffee (Sr., Pittsburgh, Pa. / Orange Coast College)
Melissa Mead (Sr., Newport Beach / Newport Harbor HS)
Nicole Mendoza (Jr., Folsom / Sacramento St. Francis HS)
Maggie Newton-Neal (Jr., Laguna Beach / Laguna Beach HS)
Marthie Ponty (Fr., Santa Fe Springs / Santa Fe HS)
In last year's Big West meet, Mead finished 33rd, Fata 34th, Newton-Neal 40th and McDuffee 57th. UCI placed sixth as a team a year ago.
DIRECTIONS TO THE UCR AGRICULTURAL OPERATIONS COURSE (From Orange County): Take the 91 Freeway east to the 60/215 Freeway (to Indio) South. Take the University Avenue exit and turn right (west) onto University Avenue. Proceed to Iowa Street and turn left (south). Continue to Martin Luther King Street and turn left (east) onto Martin Luther King. Proceed to Canyon Crest Drive and turn right (south). Take Canyon Crest Drive one-half mile to the Agricultural Operations gate.
The course is located one-half mile south of the UC Riverside campus. Event parking for spectators will be in Lot 30, on the northwest corner of Canyon Crest and Martin Luther King (once on MLK, Lot 30 is on your left prior to Canyon Crest). Admission to the 2011 Big West Cross Country Championships is $5 per person.
