UC Irvine Wraps Up Fall Schedule With A Fifth Place Finish

Boulder City, Nevada – The UC Irvine women's golf team ended the fall schedule in a tie for fifth place at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown held at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.

The Anteaters shot a 317 on the final round and tied Louisville and UNLV for fifth place with a 54-hole score of 891 (286-288-317). UC Davis won the 16-team event with a score of 869. San Diego State and Pepperdine tied for second at 884 and Oklahoma was fourth with a score of 890. Pepperdine's Grace Na was the medalist with a score 209 (63-72-74).

UCI freshman Brenna Carlson posted her first collegiate top 10 finish with a tie for eighth place. She carded a 219 (72-69-78) which included a career-best 69 on the second round. Freshman Michelle Yang was tied for 16th with a score of 221 (73-71-77) and senior Lalita Patipaksiri was tied for 20th with a three-round total of 223 (72-71-80). Sophomore Ronnie Valerio (72-78-82) and junior Michelle Park (70-77-85) tied for 55th with a score of 232.

This is the final event of the fall schedule. The Anteaters will resume action back in Boulder City, playing in the UNLV Invitational at the Cascata Golf Club Feb. 20-21, 2012.
