Tara Eaton joined the UC Irvine women’s volleyball staff as an assistant coach in 2026.
Eaton, a defensive specialist, started her collegiate career at the University of Idaho where she led the team in service reception, ranked second in digs with 236, and third in both aces and assists. She also received Big Sky All-Academic honors. Eaton then transferred to UC Riverside where she recorded 496 digs, 78 assists, and 25 aces in three seasons. She helped the Highlanders rank first in the Big West in digs in 2017 and third in 2018. A two-time Big West All-Academic selection, Eaton graduated from UCR with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2020.
Eaton went on to compete internationally in both indoor and beach volleyball at Bournemouth University in England where she received a master’s degree in organizational project management. She led the indoor team to the Student Cup Championship and qualified for 5-star events on the UK Beach Tour.
Eaton prepped at Trabuco Hills High School where she was a first-team All-Sea View League selection as a senior. She helped the Mustangs to a 33-5 record in 2015, and the program’s first CIF title, league title, and state semifinal appearance.
Eaton returned to Trabuco Hills HS as the head indoor and beach volleyball coach in 2025-26. She also coached club at Forza1 and Tstreet Volleyball Club where she helped her teams to a handful of medal finishes at USAV qualifiers and nationals.
