Sean Brown begins his first season as UC Irvine track & field's pole vault coach.
Brown was an All-American pole vaulter at Cal Poly where he graduated with a degree in philosophy. He tied for 10th at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and was named the Mustangs' Athlete of the Year in 1997. His collegiate-best of 18-06.75 as a senior still ranks second in program history. Brown was also a U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier in 1999 and established a personal-record 18-08.75.
Brown has prior coaching experience at his alma mater, mentoring 1998 NCAA Champion Bianca Moran and Big West Champion Jenna Holmes. He has also spent the last 20+ years as a digital producer for organizations such as TBWA/Media Arts Lab, USA Track & Field and the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Brown is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
