Peter Boyer

2012 marks the 5th season for Coach Boyer with the Anteaters, who have established themselves as one of the premier programs not only in California, but the country. UC Irvine is coming off their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and back to back Big West regular season titles.

Boyer continues to work with the team's keepers in addition to playing a vital role in the development of the field players. 2011 was the beginning of a new era for Goalkeeping at UCI with the graduation of senior goalkeeper Danielle de Seriere, the 2010 Big West Goalkeeper of the Year, who signed with FC Twente of the Dutch women's league. Freshman Jenn Randazzo stepped in between the pipes for all 21 games of the season and for the second consecutive year UC Irvine finished conference play #1 in Goals Allowed (6), Goals Against Average (.77) and Shutouts (5).

Along with his work with the goalkeepers, Coach Boyer continues to have a significant contribution to the success of the field players. He has coached multiple Big West All-Conference, Player of the Year recipients and 2011 marked the second straight season in which he helped mentor Regional All Americans and a National All-American. Prior to joining Scott Juniper's staff at UC Irvine, Boyer was the assistant coach for the UC Riverside men's soccer program for the 2008 season. He worked in all facets of the program, including travel coordination, planning of training sessions and academic relations.

A New Jersey native, Coach Boyer came to California in 2006 to serve as an assistant coach at the University of Redlands, led by Ralph Perez. In his two years with the Bulldogs, he was instrumental in helping the program advance to the NCAA Tournament twice and to the Elite Eight in 2007. While at Redlands, Boyer also earned his Master of Arts in counseling through the School of Education.

Boyer started his coaching career as the assistant men's soccer coach for the United States Military Academy (Army) during the 2005 season. Boyer graduated from Drew University (Madison, NJ) with a degree in political science. He competed on the Rangers men's basketball and men's soccer teams during his undergraduate career.

During his four years on the pitch, Boyer helped the team reach the 2003 NCAA Championship game while earning NSCAA All-American first-team honors. As the team's top goalkeeper, he also gained NSCAA All-Region honors during his junior and senior seasons. To wrap up his career, he was named Freedom Conference Player of the Year in 2003.

Boyer earned his USSF "B" License in January of 2009 and holds a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma as well. He enjoys playing and watching soccer, basketball, and golf. He resides in Costa Mesa.
