Brianna Stevens joins the UC Irvine cross country and track & field staff as an assistant coach for the 2016-17 season, primarily assisting with the distance events.

Stevens graduated from Wingate (N.C.) University in 2014 with cum laude honors and her bachelor’s degree in community and commercial recreation with a concentration in coaching and personal training.

At Wingate University, Stevens was a member of the cross country and track & field teams from 2010-2014 and was captain of the 2013 and 2014 cross country teams that qualified for the national championship.  She earned South Atlantic All-Conference recognition for cross country in 2011, 2013, and 2014 and was named to the NCAA Cross Country Division II All-Southeast Region Team in 2013 and 2014.  

Stevens was also an academic standout as she was an NCAA Division II Cross Country Academic All-American in 2010 and was selected to the USTFCCAA All-Academic Team in 2011, 2013, and 2014.

She earned her Track and Field Technical Event Coaching Certification from U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in May of 2016.  In 2013, she also received her Coaching Principles Certification through the American Sport Education Program as well as her Certified Personal Trainer Certificate from the American Council on Exercise.

Stevens was the club treasurer and executive board member of the Sports Science Majors Club at Wingate University from 2012 to 2013 and was also the representative of her cross country team for the Student Athletic Advisory Club in 2012.

In April 2013, she earned the NASPE Outstanding Major of the Year Award, in which she was selected by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education and was honored at the AAHPERD National Convention and Exposition.  Stevens was selected to represent Wingate University at the fourth annual Peach Belt Women in Athletics Conference in 2011.
