Biography

OLYMPIC EXPERIENCE
Vargas was a member of the U.S. Men’s Water Polo Olympic Team at the 1992 Barcelona Games, leading the U.S. to a fourth-place finish
 
He served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Men’s National Team at the 1996 Atlanta Games
 
Vargas served as the head coach for U.S. Men’s National Team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney

Vargas graduated UCI in 1982
 
He was a two time All-American (1981-1982) and a four-year letterwinner
 
Vargas helped lead the Anteaters to an undefeated season and an NCAA title in 1982
 
Was inducted into the UCI Hall of Fame in 2006

Spent 10 years playing with the U.S. National Team
 
Completed his 19th season as the head coach of the Stanford men’s water polo team in 2020-21
