Majid Saleh joins the Anteater coaching staff as a Director of Performance Enhancement
Saleh brings a wealth of coaching knowledge and experience that began in 2004 as an assistant for pro club FC Saipa in the Iran Pro League. He spent the better part of 15 years coaching in Iran with clubs FC Mes Kerman, FC Zobahan, FC Paykan, FC Fajr-E-Sepasi, and with heralded club FC Esteghlal earning two trips to the AFC Champions League with the club and an Iran Pro League title. His coaching helped to a pair of Iran Elimination Cup titles with FC Esteghlal and FC Zobahan.
Saleh was also an assistant with the Iranian National Team in 2014-15 as the squad reached the FIFA World Cup. His head coaching exploits included stints with FC Saipa in 2011 and FC Fajr-E-Sepasi most recently in 2018.
The qualifield football coach and training designer came to the U.S. in 2019 first coaching at Pacifica Christian High School as the women's head coach for two seasons. Following that, he was technical director of Jewel City United Soccer Club until 2022.
Saleh began consulting with the Anteaters in the 2023 season while also having a hand in coaching duties as an assistant coach for Occidental men's soccer and head coach for LA Surf Boys EAL 05/06 club.
As a player, he began in 1985 with FC Hom spending five seasons with them. From 1991 until the end of his pro career in 2001 he played for clubs Bank Tejara, Keshavarz, Saipa, and Paykan scoring over 100 goals in his career, taking home two Iran Pro League titles, one Elimination Cup title, and name Best Player of the Qatar International Cup in 1991.
Saleh made appearances with the Iranian National Team as well with three caps and appearing eight times for the U21 squad scoring four goals in those matches.
He has also earned his coaching certifications as an AFC Professional Coach in 2017 earning "A", "B", and "C" licenses throughout his coaching timeline prior to that. Saleh is a graduate of Khaje Nasie University in Electrical Engineering with over 10 years of experience with soccer analytics software.
