Position Description:
UC Irvine Athletics is seeking individuals to join the marketing department to help promote UC Irvine Athletics’ 18 Division I sports programs. The Sports Marketing Assistant will be responsible for executing marketing and promotional initiatives, assisting in game day production and management, focusing on grassroots marketing and outreach efforts to drive attendance and brand awareness, and day-to-day office and scheduling assistance.
Internship Logistics:
- Paid hourly $17/hour and maximum 20 hours/week.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee promotion and advertising of non-ticketed sports. This includes promotional email creation and distribution, meeting with coaches, etc…
- Tennis (M/W)
- Water Polo (M/W)
- Golf (M/W)
- Track & Field/Cross Country (M/W)
- Manage gameday schedules for marketing interns
- Delegation of tasks and teaching fellow peers
- Manage the Jr. Anteater Kid’s Club (youth season ticket holders)
- Assist in game day production:
- Run of Show Script writing for select sports (M/WSOC & M/WWP)Â
- In-game music
- Oversee initiatives to drive Antourage (student section/group) attendance at all sports.
- This includes tabling at major campus events, working with campus student organizations, and escorting student-athletes/teams to on campus events.
- Assist with all Community Outreach efforts including, but not limited to, fulfillment of donation requests, organization of student-athlete, mascot and spirit squad appearances, outreach events, and other special promotions.
Desired Skills/Requirements:
- Must be a student currently enrolled in classes at UC Irvine
- Must be available to work approximately 6-10 hours per week in the marketing office in addition to assigned athletic events (including all home Men’s Basketball or Women’s Basketball events)
- Must have some knowledge or interest in NCAA Division-1 Athletics
- Strong desire to pursue a career in the field of sports marketing, business and entertainment, or event planning and management
- Attendance at at least one UC Irvine athletic event a plus
- Must be interested in enhancing school spirit
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Some experience in Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, CANVA etc.) helpful, but not required
