OVERVIEW
The Carlos A. Prietto, M.D. Sports Medicine Center, a 5000 sq.ft. facility providing high level care to 400 student-athletes, was completely renovated and remodeled in 2003. This facility along with the Athletic Department’s dedicated staff focuses on injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation that assures a positive, healthy, recovery experience, an improved quality of life, a safe return to full athletic participation and continued athletic success.
ABOUT CARLOS A. PRIETTO, M.D.
Dr. Prietto, a 1973 graduate of UCI College of Medicine, has served as the UC Irvine team physician for over 25 years, and has been a cornerstone of UCI's medical care for its student-athletes. Dr. Prietto has cared for the Orange County community in a variety of capacities including as an Associate Professor of Orthopedics with UC Irvine, Clinical Professor for the University and team physician for Mater Dei, Garden Grove, and Tustin high schools. In 2002, he formed the Orthopedic Specialty Institute of Orange County, a collaboration of 16 of Orange County's finest orthopedic physicians. He has been honored by several publications as one of Orange County's finest physicians, most recently by Orange Coast Magazine and currently serves as a member of the UCI Athletic Director’s Advisory Board.
