ABOUT
Opening its gates in 2002, Cicerone Field at Anteater Ballpark,
which arguably rates as one of the top collegiate baseball
facilities on the West Coast, is home to the UC Irvine baseball
team.
Anteater Ballpark’s most notable features include chair
back seating and a festive-seating area on the grass berm.
Affectionately dubbed “The Anthill”, this large
inviting expanse provides an enjoyable fan experience for all ages.
Additional features include a 52-foot LED scoreboard, and a press
box to accommodate both writers and broadcasters covering the
nationally-ranked Anteaters through live radio (KUCI 88.9FM),
online streaming, and national telecasts.
Cicerone Field, named for Ralph J. Cicerone (UC Irvine’s
Chancellor from 1998-2005) is comprised of GN-1 bermuda grass with
the field dimensioning at 335’ down the foul poles,
380’ in the power alleys, and 405’ dead center;
likewise, the big league feel of the park is enhanced twelve foot
fence. Along the perimeter of the fences sits the Musco
television quality stadium flood lights, 2000 sq ft dugouts,
bullpens, and the spacious fully enclosed Mazzo Family batting
cages.
Completed in 2007, Newkirk Pavilion, includes a player lounge
and locker rooms, coaches’ offices and locker rooms, training
and laundry facilities, and a multipurpose preferred viewing suite
called the Anteater Room. The Anteater Room offers the
University’s most prestigious donors a spectacular view of
the field and is perfect for game-day
hospitality, as well as any group event.
Completed in 2012, the Crain Family Umpires' Locker Room
facility provides a convenient space for the games officials to
congregate before and after the game. Located within the Newkirk
Pavilion, this room includes a shower, lockers, changing
space and restroom facilities for those in "blue".
Guest amenities at the ballpark are equally impressive and
encourage spectators to spend less time waiting and more time
watching their beloved Anteaters with an improved concession
pavilion, restrooms, and merchandise booth.
