Wallace Named Big West Defensive Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. - Junior libero Whitney Wallace has been named the Big West Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday.

Wallace led the Anteaters with 5.38 digs per set at The Rebel Challenge in Las Vegas. She started the tournament with 18 digs in a 3-1 win over Southeastern Louisiana. Wallace came back the next day to record a match-high 25 digs in a four-set loss to host UNLV. It was her fourth 20-dig effort of the season, and third in her last four outings. Wallace also committed just one reception error on 62 attempts (.984).

Wallace finished non-conference play with a team-leading 3.83 digs per set.

The Anteaters will start Big West action at home on Friday, Sept. 25, when they welcome Black & Blue Rival Long Beach State to the Bren Events Center for a 6 p.m. showdown.
