UCI Wins Team and Individual 6K Titles at UCR Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Irvine women's cross country won the UC Riverside Invitational 6K, highlighted by an individual victory from senior Emma Hadley, Saturday morning at the UCR Ag/Ops Course.
The Anteaters' 65 points put them at the top of the 30-team field. They came in 87 points ahead of runner-up Cal State Fullerton.
Hadley led the 269-runner field by five seconds, crossing the line in a personal-record 20:09.9. Her PR moved her up six spots to No. 4 in program history.
Hadley's time was one of nine personal bests set by the 'Eaters in the 6K race. Sophomore Grace Baxter, who took fourth overall and was third among collegiate athletes, clocked in at 20:27.7. She cracked UCI's all-time top-10, coming in at No. 7. Junior Cynthia Herrera (20:41.4) and fifth-year Sona Kourilova (20:43.5) also ran PRs and placed among the top-20.
Junior Anna Soares was 30th in 20:51.5. Classmates Jackie Pan (20:53.9) and Liana Lee (20:54.4) weren't far behind in 32nd and 33rd, respectively. Juniors Daisy Penney (21:08.0) and Breckyn Kornachuk (21:19.7) added lifetime bests.
Eight 'Eaters also combined for a runner-up showing in the UCR Invitational 5K Open. Sophomore Kaitlin Kenney led the way, finishing second overall and first among collegiate athletes. Kenney clocked a personal-record 17:39.1.
Freshman Allie Harman was next across the line for the Anteaters in 12th, running a personal-best 18:16.2. Junior Arden Keeton (18:24.5) and freshman Alahna Thomas (18:34.4) also set lifetime bests to place 21st and 32nd, respectively.
Sophomore Avery Hutchison (18:50.6), sophomore Natalie Gonzalez Moreno (18:51.7), and senior Malia Leupold (19:15.6) rounded out UCI's scorers.
UC Irvine will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 9, at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Springfield, Oregon.
