
Anderson, Robinson Selected for NCAA Championships

IRVINE, Calif. - Freshman Joy Anderson and senior Jolie Robinson will represent UC Irvine women's track & field in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 10-13.

Anderson and Robinson both established their qualifying marks at the Big West Multi-Event Championships two weeks ago. Anderson was the conference champion, breaking her own school record with 5,740 points. She initially topped UCI's charts in her first career heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis where she compiled 5,572 points. Anderson is also among the top-10 in program history in the 200m (23.98), 100H (13.89), and high jump (1.74m).

Robinson was the Big West runner-up in the heptathlon with a 123-point lifetime-best score of 5,647. It was her fourth-straight top-two showing at the conference meet. Robinson ranks second in program history in the heptathlon, fourth in the long jump, and fourth in the javelin. She was an NCAA West First Round qualifier in the long jump a year ago.

The heptathlon and decathlon are not contested at the First Round sites. The top-24 declared student-athletes in each event based on their position on the national descending-order list are accepted directly into the NCAA Championships. Anderson is seeded 14th, while Robinson is 22nd.
