
Two Anteaters Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

IRVINE, Calif. - Junior Max Fardanesh and sophomore Ruining Huang have been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Fardanesh earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the second year in a row, and will advance to the national Academic All-America ballot to be voted on by CSC members.

Fardanesh is a 2026 first-team All-Big West selection in doubles, and a second-team performer in singles. He was also tabbed the Big West Player of the Week on March 18. The team captain played in every match, helping the Anteaters win a share of the conference's regular season title and advance to their fifth consecutive Big West Championship final. He played primarily at No. 2 singles, finishing with eight victories, including three against conference opponents. During the fall, FardaneshΒ picked up a ranked win, taking down UC Santa Barbara's No. 64 Diogo Morais, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3. Academically, Fardanesh has made the Dean's List every quarter at UC Irvine and was a 2025 ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Huang received his first career Academic All-District award. Huang, who played primarily at No. 5 singles, recorded 12 overall victories, including nine during the spring season. He finished the campaign on a four-match unbeaten streak toΒ help the 'Eaters claim a share of the regular-season title. The run started with an impressive three-set comeback victory against Nadaul Cheam to even the team score in an eventual 4-3 win at UC Davis. He also defeated conference opponents from UC Riverside, Cal Poly, and Hawai'i.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Student-athletes also must have played in 70% of the team's scored matches.
