UCI Set to Play CSUN on Saturday, Match Against HIU Cancelled

IRVINE, Calif. — UC Irvine women's tennis (11-5, 2-2) will only play one match this week, a Saturday (Apr. 4) bout against Big West opponent Cal State Northridge, after an Apr. 1 matchup with Hope International University was canceled.

  • UC Irvine enters crucial the conference matchup on a two-match winning streak, coming off of a 4-3 comeback victory over #64 Hawai'i on Friday (Mar. 27)

  • The win against Hawai'i was clinched by senior captain Carolyna Fowler, who won in straight sets and finished off UCI's first ranked win since 2013-14 and first time defeating Hawai'i since 2014-15

  • Bella Pitchford has continued her stellar play through the Anteaters' conference schedule, going 4-0 overall last week and picking up her ninth straight singles victory against the Rainbow Wahine

  • UCI sits at 11-5, matching its best start through 16 matches since 2013-14

Scouting Cal State Northridge

CSUN (9-6, 0-3) sits at ninth in the Big West standings headed into the home stretch of the season. The Matadors have struggled in conference play during the 2025-26 dual match season, but have picked up non-conference victories against San Jose State and 2025-26 UC Irvine opponent Richmond.

Northridge is led by Angela Ho, who is 14-5 overall in singles on the season, playing primarily on the No. 3 line. 

UCI and CSUN are scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. first serve on Saturday, Apr. 4.
