UC Irvine will compete at the Silicon Valley Showcase Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 30-31) at the Green Hills Country Club.
The course will play 6,084 yards at par 71.
The tournament field includes Santa Clara, Cal, Eastern Michigan, Kansas State, San Diego State, San Francisco, UC Davis, Washington State and Wyoming. Stanford will have Individuals playing.
The Anteater team includes Alona Avery, Kiana Briggs, Jenny Chang, Katherine Gerbing and HaYoung Lee.
UCI finished seventh at last year's event with a score of 895 (297-296-302). Katherine Gerbing led the Anteaters with a score of 224 (76-72-76), which was tied for 24th place. Alona Avery fired a round of 69 on the first day.
This is the final warm-up before the Big West Championship April 19-22 at the Lahaina Golf Course.
Sophomore Katelyn Kong is missing from the Silicon Valley Showcase lineup as she is participating in the Augusta National Women's Amateur Wednesday-Thursday (Apr. 1-2) on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
The international field of 72 women amateurs will compete over 54 holes of stroke play. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club. In the event of a tie after 54 holes, the winner will be decided by sudden-death playoff.
The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round Friday, April 3. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, Apr. 4.
The first and second rounds will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (1:30-3:30 p.m. ET) followed by NBC Sports broadcasting three hours (Noon-3 p.m. ET) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National.
The event, which started in 2019, was established to inspire greater interest and participation in the women's game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway for players to fulfill their dreams. Provided she remain an amateur, the Augusta National Women's Amateur Champion will receive an invitation to the next five Augusta National Women's Amateurs, the U.S. Women's Open, the AIG Women's Open, the Chevron Championship, the Evian Championship and any USGA, R&A and PGA of America amateur championships for which she is eligible for one year.
