IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine men's basketball players Derin Saran and Harrison Carrington have been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Student-athletes also must have played in 90% of the team's games or started 66% of them at the nomination deadline.

It is the first recognition for each of the student-athletes who are both political sciences majors.

Saran was named All-Big West honorable mention after averaging 11.5 points per game. He ranked third in steals (1.7), eighth in assists (3.4) and 15^th in rebounding (5.3) average among Big West players. The guard became the first Anteater to record a triple-double with 20 points, 10 assists and 12 rebounds in the victory Lincoln. He poured in a career-high 29 points versus Northern Iowa, the most by a UCI player this season. He ended the year earning Big West Championship All-Tournament team honors.

Carrington averaged 8.5 points and 3.8 rebounds on the year. The forward recorded double-figure points 16 times this season, including a career-high 19 versus Lincoln. He shot .600 or better from the field 15 times this season and pulled down a rebound in every game but one. He added 31 assists, 20 steals and five blocks overall.

UC Irvine was the Big West regular season champions for the 10^th time in program history and competed in the NIT for the fourth consecutive year.
