IRVINE, Calif. – No. 4 UC Irvine gave No. 1 UCLA a run for their money in a five-set loss (22-25, 25-20, 30-28, 22-25, 11-15) in front of a crowd of 4,133 at the Bren Events Center Friday.
The Anteaters (12-2) had a trio of players with double-digit kills, led by opposite
William D'Arcy with 15. He had seven digs and a block assist, while freshman outside hitter
Andrej Jokanovic recorded 14 kills, five digs and three block assists.
Middle blocker
Trevor Clark, the nation's leader in hitting percentage, was once again efficient, with a .476 mark and 12 kills. He also had a team-high six total blocks (three solo).
The Bruins, who go to 14-0 overall, had 16.5 blocks which are tied for eighth most in a match nationally this season.

THIRD SET
>UCI jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead on a pair of Jokanovic kills, an ace and kill by Goss and a kill and solo block by Clark
>The Bruins would rally and catch UCI at 9-9
>UCI went on a 7-1 run which included a kill by Jokanovic, an ace by Goss, triple block by Jokanovic, Clark and Kosty, a kill and back-to-back aces from Kosty and a Bruin attack that sailed long, 18-14
