Sutherland Named MPSF Athlete of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. β Junior Halle Sutherland has been named the MPSF Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Sutherland earned her first career weekly honor after breaking an eight-year-old school record in the 200m last Friday at theΒ Wolf Pack Classic. The Lake Forest, California, native ran a personal-best 24.12 to beat Olympian Persis William-Mensah's previous standard of 24.26. Sutherland finished seventh out of 79 in her first 200m race of the season.

Sutherland added a 60m season-best 7.51 to advance to the final where she placed seventh.

UC Irvine returns to Reno, Nevada, this weekend for the Battle Born Classic, Feb. 13-14.
