How did you get started playing tennis?
I played a lot of different sports when I was growing up. I started tennis a little later when I was around 9 or 10. My younger sister was playing first while I was playing baseball and basketball. I started off at a camp with my sister and saw that I had some potential. Then I realized basketball and baseball weren't going to be it, so I switched over to tennis. I really love the sport and that's why I kept going.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Redondo Beach, California, and then during COVID, I moved to Orange.

Who has been your biggest inspiration in the sport?
That's a tough one, but I'd say my parents and coaches. They have had a huge influence in the development of my game. My dad took us to a lot of tournaments and before I could drive, my mom would take us to a lot of the practices. Then I've had really great coaches along the way who taught me how to play the game the right way.

Tell us a little bit about your recruiting process and why you chose UC Irvine.
When I first started to get recruited back in my junior year of high school, I committed to USC, but I realized it wasn't going to be the best fit for me and my game, so I decommitted fairly late, I think it was May of my senior year. Then I reached out to Coach Saunders because I knew UCI was a great program, he was a great coach, and it was a great culture here with the team. Luckily when I reached out, I felt that connection here, so that's when I decided (UCI) was going to be the best fit for me.

What is your goal for your first season?
This first year I really want to develop my game and get better. Also, I just want to enjoy the season with the team. I love my teammates and hanging out with them; I think we have a really good bond.

What is your major and what is your career goal?
I'm majoring in business administration. I'm not really sure yet, but if I can somehow play some pro tennis that would be great. I can also kind of see myself as a college coach; I think that would be a pretty cool career. If I could get into business too, that would be really nice.
