Anteaters Start Golfweek Red Sky Classic In Sixth Place

WOLCOTT, Colo. – The UC Irvine women's golf team got the 2025-26 season off to a good start, sitting in sixth place after the first day of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic at the Red Sky Ranch and Golf Course.
The Anteaters shot a round of 291 on the first day led by sophomore Alona Avery with a score of one-under par 71. She is tied for 11th with three birdies on the day.
Sophomore Katelyn Kong carded a team-best four birdies for an even par 72, which was tied for 22nd place followed by graduate student Jenny Chang who is tied for 33rd with a score of 73 and sophomore Kathrine Gerbing tied for 48th with a 75. Sophomore HaYoung Lee is tied for 82nd with a round of 79.
Gerbing leads the tournament field with 15 pars, while Kong is tied for second on Par 3s (2.50) and Avery was tied for second on Par 5s (4.50).
The tournament continues tomorrow and Wednesdays with 18 holes each day.
