Colombini, Pickelle Pace Scoring Attack in 4-0 Win

SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's soccer started their Northern California weekend in style with a 4-0 win over Sacramento State at Hornet Field.

Homeward Bound
  • UC Irvine took control with a fifth-minute goal from a Northern California connection
  • Ella Colombini got ahold of an Ariane Haysman Boaler pass and turned toward the right post. The Stanford-native's feed to the Moraga-native led to a hard-angle strike off the keeper's fingertips and into the net's roof for a resounding 1-0 lead
  • UCI continued its pressure searching to build on the lead finishing with six of the half's eight shots and three on frame, but nothing else into the net
Back To Back
  • The Anteaters regained their momentum as the second half began with an early score
  • San Jose's own Kori Pickelle was the beneficiary of some focused passing in the box that she finished to make it a 2-0 lead in the 58th minute
  • Minutes later, a familiar face made her presence known. Suus de Bakker, back on the field for the first time since her injury 11 months ago, streaked towards the back post and put home a Mirayah Villalpando pass for a 3-0 lead in the 64th minute.
  • UCI scored a fourth goal for good measure as Pickelle made it a brace in the 86th minute having a go from 30 yards and sneaking one inside the left post for the 4-0 scoreline.
UC Irvine 4, Sacramento State 0
  • The 'Eaters return to the win column now 2-1-2 and remain unbeaten in their last three matches (1-0-2)
  • The brace for Pickelle is the first of her career, she now has three goals on the season and in her career
  • Ella Colombini's early goal was the first in the senior's career and went down as the game-winner. She added an assist for her second of the season and first career three-point match
  • de Bakker returned to play scoring in her first match of 2025 after an 11-month absence from injury. Her goal is the fifth of her career and first since 2022.
  • Five different Anteaters contributed assists on the four goals. A trio of 'Eaters recorded their first collegiate assists in Ariane Haysman Boaler and freshmen Fiona Shin and Mara Cochon. For Cochon, it was also her first career points. Mirayah Villalpando added an assist, the third of her career and her first in 2025.
  • Laurynn Ziller and Savanna Arruda came together for the combined shutout. Ziller saved one shot playing the first 75 minutes with Arruda picking up two in the final 15 minutes of the match.
