IRVINE, Calif.-- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) honored the top academic tennis players in the country Monday which included a host of Anteaters among their academic awards.
UC Irvine was one of 222 women's tennis programs that were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. It is the eighth-straight year the 'Eaters have claimed the honor. To be eligible, all varsity letterwinners must have combined for a minimum 3.2 team GPA during the 2024-25 academic year.
UCI also landed seven individuals on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list –
Asha Gidwani,
Mikaela Hinton,
Yen Nhi Huynh,
Haily Huynh,
Maily Huynh,
Kayla Meraz, and
Bella Pitchford. It is the eighth time the Anteaters have had at least five ITA Scholar-Athlete selections. Gidwani, Hinton, H. Huynh, and Meraz earned the award for the third consecutive season, while M. Huynh, Y. Huynh, and Pitchford were first-time honorees. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.5 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year.
