Anteaters Dominate Royals, 6-0

FULLERTON, Calif. – UC Irvine, the winners of three-straight matches, claimed a 6-0 result at Hope International on Saturday afternoon.
The Anteaters (10-7, 1-3) earned the doubles point as Amanda Perez and Maily Huynh finished 6-1 against Catrina Hubbard and Isabel Coscolluela on court three. At the top of the lineup, Kayla Meraz and Haily Huynh clinched the point with a 6-2 result over Ellie Black and Escamillo.
M. Huynh was first to finish on the individual side, downing Melody Kilonzo 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6 before H. Huynh did not drop a set (6-0, 6-0) to the Royal's at No. 5 to put UCI up 3-0. For the second consecutive match, Kayla Meraz clinched the win for the 'Eaters at No. 1 with an unblemished score, 6-0, 6-0.
Despite it being a clinch-clinch match, both the matches on courts three and four were near photo finishes with Meraz which made for the 6-0 result. Perez ended 6-0, 6-0 on court three as Yen Nhi Huynh finished up on court four, 6-0, 6-1.
